Pas de la Casa, part of the Grandvalira ski area, sits at a height of 2050m and is the highest resort in Andorra. Bordering France, a literal translation of its name means “the pass of the house” and it dates back to the time when only a single shepherd’s house overlooked the pass.

Beginners will enjoy the easy nursery slopes in the resort centre. The English-speaking ski school, one of the best in Europe, if not THE best, provides great instruction for children and wobbling adults. And for those who are steadier on their feet and up for a bigger challenge, there are a good number of fairly undemanding blue runs. Pas de la Casa also boasts a wide selection of red runs too. The advanced skiers should take full advantage of their Grandvalira pass, by going off piste on the Grau Roig or down to Soldeu village.

The Grandvalira has plenty of runs for snowboarders, where freeriders can enjoy an extensive rideable area and freestylers will love the snowboard park.

Famed for its vibrant nightlife, there’s a vast selection of bars and discos here, destined to liven up your night. There are plenty of off-piste activities to try your hand at too. Ice-skating, skidooing, snowshoeing and torchlight descents are all popular when skiing in Pas de la Casa. Indoor swimming and squash are also available at the Canillo Sports Centre, a twenty minute bus ride away.

Dining out on your Pas de la Casa ski holiday is made easy, with a variety of competitively priced restaurants all offering lots of tempting dishes.

With no end of things to do and all skiing levels well catered for, Pas de la Casa knocks the snowsocks off other winter ski resorts.
