Bad Gastein, traditionally a spa resort, sits at the head of the Gastein valley at a height of 1000 metres. It is part of the Gasteinertal ski area, which is one of the largest in Austria. Snowboarders will be happy to know that Bad Gastein forms part of one of Austria’s largest rideable area, with well over 100 miles of piste. Freestylers can look forward to a half-pipe and snowboard park.

Nightlife, when skiing in Bad Gastein, is lively with lots of hotspots to sample and if you’re feeling lucky there’s even a casino. Restaurants are aplenty here, with over 35 to choose from, catering to all budgets and tastes.
