Galtür sits slightly higher than its nearest neighbour Ischgl, achieving an altitude of 1585m. This small, typically Tyrolean, village is very popular with families, however, as it offers a fantastic mix of runs, all abilities are well catered for here.

Beginners skiing in Galtür can start off on the Wirl beginner lift, before progressing to the Soppalift. With plenty of practice, the novice can go higher and conquer some of the longer blue runs. Intermediates won’t be disappointed with the red runs of the Kopsalpe ski bowl, while Ischgl offers even more opportunities in the Alp Trida and Palinkopf areas. The fearless can tackle Ischgl‘s black runs and some fantastic touring routes off-piste, for which the Galtür and Ischgl region is famed.

The Silvretta area has wonderful snowboarding terrain. Ischgl held the first ever snowboarding World Cup in 1993, so you’d rather expect some great boarding conditions. You’ll also find one of the largest and best freestyle parks in the Alps here!

Nightlife is low key and on the quiet side. There are a few bars, but really if you’re seeking a more vibrant night scene, then hop in a taxi and head for Ischgl nearby. Restaurants do offer traditional and international fare, so there’ll be plenty of choice.

A Galtür ski holiday boasts a great range of off-slope activities. For those wanting to keep their skiing down time physical, there’s ice skating, curling, and snowshoe & winter walking. And not forgetting the traditional horse drawn sleigh rides.
