Kirchdorf lies at an altitude of 640m in the middle of the Kitzbueheler Alps. This family-friendly ski holiday spot forms part of the Schneewinkel ski area, opening up 170km of piste to navigate. It may be known as a beginners’ paradise, but not to be underestimated, Kirchdorf has a fantastic range of skiing opportunities for all abilities.

The ski school comes well recommended and with uncrowded nursery slopes, skiing in Kirchdorf is perfect for all the family. The more testing, but still gentle enough, areas of St Johann and Waidring await those who progress quickly. Intermediates will appreciate the central location of this resort, making it handy for the larger Schneewinkel area. While the local ski bus links the resorts of St. Johann, Waidring/Steinplatte and Fieberbrunn, opening up runs of every category. For the more experienced skier, the Waidring/Steinplatte and Fieberbrunn areas offer up some challenging powder opportunities and steeper runs. Kirchdorf also forms part of the Kitzbüheler Alpen Pass, boasting some 676km of skiing terrain.

The inexperienced snowboarder will benefit from the uncrowded pistes. While those who are more adept can take a bus to the Schneewinkel area, and Fieberbrunn offers varied natural terrain, a snowpark and a half pipe.

Nightlife on a Kirchdorf ski holiday is fairly laid back with the après centering around the local cafés and bars. Combine this with a choice of restaurants and you’ll have plenty to keep you entertained.

No winter holiday would be complete without a sleigh ride or some tobogganing, and, for the super-fit, cross country skiing can be arranged. Those who prefer to soothe their aching joints should visit the local spa centre, where an indoor/outdoor pool, saunas and a steam room await.
