Obertauern sits high up in the south east of the Austrian Bundesland at a height of 1750m. Known for being Austria’s only purpose-built ski resort, conditions are perfect for skiing door to door, with 95kms of prepared piste all leading back to the village. The joy of the Tauern run is that you can ski all the runs, clockwise or anticlockwise, and always end back where you started from.

Beginners skiing in Obertauern can look forward to honing their skills on at least 22 blue runs, while intermediates will enjoy a similar number of reds. While there are only 6 black runs to navigate, there are also some good off-piste possibilities for the advanced crew.

Snowboarding is popular here too, with plenty of rideable areas.

There’s a lively après ski atmosphere, with lots of late night bars and discos to keep the indefatigable going from dusk till dawn. With a choice of restaurants too, those who like to sit over a good meal won’t be disappointed on their Obertauern ski holiday.

For the energetic après skier, there are some additional activities to look forward to - night skiing, sleigh rides, bowling, squash and indoor tennis. There’s even a fitness centre for those who just can’t get enough exercise.
