Protaras consists of a series of small communities, which have sprung up around various bays stretching from Cape Greco to the outskirts of Paralimni.

The area has blossomed in the past fifteen years, taking full advantage of an exquisite shoreline blessed by simply stunning golden sand beaches ranging from the very popular one at Fig Tree Bay, which is undoubtedly one of the best beaches in the Mediterranean, to small, secluded and almost destered coves.

Protaras has a good selection of shops, bars, discoes and restaurants but for the more adventurous, the shining lights of Ayia Napa are only a short taxi ride away.
