As its name suggests, holidays in Golden Sands focus on the two mile sandy beach. The gently shelving beach and calm water has an array of watersports, like waterskiing, paragliding and windsurfing. The resort is also one of the best places for scuba diving in the Black Sea, with professional PADI instruction available.

Golden Sands is a very popular choice for family holidays, courtesy of the Aquapolis water-park, yachting, mini-golf and archery, among other activities. Evening entertainment ranges from restaurants serving everything from pizzas to local Bulgarian dishes, to wild nightclubs and laid back beach bars.

For cultural days out, there is the nearby Aladzha rock monastery, one of the best preserved monasteries in Europe. Excursions can also be made to the Zlatni Pyasatsi Nautre Park with rare animal species, the ancient city of Nessebar, or the dolphinarium in Varna. With all this on offer, it’s no surprise that Golden Sands remains a firm favourite with holidaymakers.
