Playa del Ingles, on the south coast of Gran Canaria, is the island’s largest and liveliest resort.

It is popular with all types of visitors, from those out to party, to families and couples. The highlight of Playa del Ingles is the main beach known as ‘The Englishman’s Beach’. Stretching for 8 kilometres, it runs into the neighbouring resorts of Maspalomas and San Agustin. All the usual watersports can be found here, such as snorkelling, jet skiing, windsurfing and, in particular, scuba diving.

Playa del Ingles holidays are ideal for lazy days and wild nights, thanks to an array of bars and clubs in the trendy ‘Kasbah’ area. The resort is also bursting with restaurants, from traditional tapas bars to fast-food joints and a wide range of designer’s stores and souvenir stalls.

Activities in the resort include golf, go-karting and sky-diving and trips can be made to the nearby waterparks and theme parks. The famous Sahara-like sand dunes at Maspalomas, complete with camel rides, are an absolute must to visit.
