Cavtat is a delightful and small Croatian resort, 15 miles south of the city of Dubrovnik.
The mediaeval town, with a pretty waterfront promenade, has a relaxed pace of life and it boasts two beaches with clear water, on palm-lined bays. The southern beach will appeal to watersports enthusiasts, with everything from sailing, scuba diving, and pedaloes, to jet-skiing and snorkelling. Quieter secluded beaches can also easily be found dotted along the coastline.
Cavtat holidays centre on the harbour that is brimming with friendly cafes and intimate restaurants, with delicious local specialities and Croatian wine. Like the atmosphere during the day, the nightlife is mainly low-key, but there are clubs and casinos open until the early hours.
Days away from the beach can be spent shopping or sightseeing, with Cavtat boasting historical sites, museums, galleries and a Baroque church. Holidays here are not complete without a visit to the Sipun Cave, or the hilltop Racic Mausoleum above the beach. Boat trips can also be taken to some of the small islands scattered off the coast.
Cavtat is an idyllic resort with breath-taking scenery that is perfect for a sun-soaked holiday.
