Meribel - Mottaret lies in the Vanoise area of the Savoie region in the Northern Alps. Ranging in height from 1450m to 1730m, this resort is part of the Trois Vallées ski area; reputed to be the largest linked ski area in the world! So, as you’d expect, there are runs aplenty for skiers of all ability, making it a popular haunt internationally. While Meribel would be the prettier of these two French resorts, Mottaret offers convenient doorstep skiing. Both, however, boast some great après ski.

First timers will enjoy the many gentle slopes and pretty, tree-lined runs open to them here and at the Altiport and Rond Point des Pistes. There’s an abundance of red runs for the intermediate skier, with the atmospheric Pic Noir slopes from Col de la Loze and the 5km run down the Combe du Vallon. Expert skiers, similarly, can enjoy a number of challenges, with plenty of off-piste and glacier skiing opportunities. Then there are the moguls of ‘Les Bosses’ and the Women’s Olympic Downhill run to attempt.

There’s variety for snowboarders too, with board parks in both Meribel and Mottaret. And if you’re up for an adventure, why not go off-piste?

Nightlife on a Meribel & Mottaret ski holiday opens up all kinds of possibilities, with bars and clubs heaving into the small hours and a fantastic selection of restaurants to choose from.

If you want time away from skiing in Meribel, then check out the cinema or go shopping. And, as if Meribel didn’t have enough shops, you can always browse around the market held twice a week.
