Agios Nikolaos is a large and lively harbour town on the north east coast of Crete, with plenty to keep you entertained.

The resort is not for those looking for peace and quiet. It attracts holidaymakers who enjoy a lively resort, with plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, and nightlife into the early hours. Agios Nikolaos is still a working port and has a busy and picturesque harbour, which is the focus of the town.

The main attraction of Agios Nikolaos is the famous bottomless Lake ‘Voulismeni’, connected to the harbour and filled with colourful boats. Surrounded by open air tavernas, it’s a perfect place for a meal. The resort offers several sandy beaches, while secluded coves along the coast, some of which are only accessible by boat, can provide quieter sunbathing.

Culture can be found at the local Byzantine church with an archaeological museum and the weekly traditional market in the town. The famous, historical island of Spinalonga, with its Venetian fortresses, can be visited by fishing boats that regularly leave from the harbour. 

Holidays in Aghios Nikolaos have something to offer everyone, with a lively atmosphere, great beaches and a taste of Greek culture.
