Gouves is on the north coast of Crete, 12 miles east of the capital of Heraklion, offering a perfect mixture of sun, sea and sand.

Holidays in Gouves are mostly spent on the three small sandy beaches, popular with sunbathers, swimmers and watersports’ enthusiasts. The surrounding countryside, with pretty traditional villages, can be easily explored by hiking, bike riding or horse riding. The original old town of Gouves can be found inland on Mount Ederi, complete with narrow streets and authentic Greek tavernas.

The rest of Crete can be easily explored, such as the archaeological sites in nearby Kokkini Hani and Amnisos. The bustling capital of Heraklion and the Crete aquarium at Hersonissos are other great day trips.

Gouves is blissfully relaxing and peaceful, yet action on the rest of the island can be easily reached.
