Piskopiano, an old and charming village on Mount Harakas, overlooking Hersonissos on the north coast of Crete, is ideal for a tranquil, laid-back holiday.

The village is one of the oldest in Crete and is home to basilica ruins dating back to the 6th century. Sitting on the middle of the mountain side, it lies between the party resort of Hersonissos and the similarly traditional village of Koutouloufari at the top. An authentic Greek atmosphere can be found in the village, with whitewashed houses lining the narrow climbing streets.

The village is an excellent holiday getaway for those looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday, with pleasant restaurants and tavernas crammed along the streets. Energetic nightlife can be found half a mile down the hill in Hersonissos, as well as a sandy beach and fantastic shopping.

Days can be spent exploring the surrounding villages and countryside, or venturing further to the waterpark and the open air museum at nearby Star Beach.
