Sissi is a low-key holiday resort on the north coast of Crete, just three miles from the party resort of Malia.

This fishing village was once so remote that it could only be reached by boat and it has managed to remain unspoilt. The slow-paced resort has a picturesque harbour, a pleasant bay, several beaches and a collection of tavernas and bars. Holidays in Sissi appeal to those who want to escape from it all and relax in a peaceful resort.

Sissi has two stretches of soft sandy beach, perfect for swimming. Keeping with the relaxed vibe of the resort, sunbathing is the main activity, but a range of watersports are on offer too. Nightlife doesn’t go much further than a delicious meal or a quiet drink. However, a change of scenery can be found in Malia, with its wild and well known nightlife.  

When visitors have had their fill of relaxation, a trip should be made to the breathtaking Lassithi Plateau, said to be the birthplace of Zeus. Windmills, old villages and wildlife make it a very worthwhile trip. History can also be seen at the Malia Palace, the museums at Heraklion and the ancient, famous island of Spinalonga.
