Livigno can be found high up in the Italian Alps, close to the Swiss border, at an altitude of 1815m. This friendly, lively village enjoys a vibrant atmosphere, a great snow record and a variety of slopes perfect for beginners and intermediate skiers.

Livigno is a great place for skiing starters, as a number of drag lifts serve the village meadows, which are ideal for honing and perfecting techniques. Also, as it’s so high up, the snow generally remains good on these gentle slopes. Intermediates will enjoy the terrain above the village, which also makes ideal practice runs for the newly promoted beginner. While above the treeline to the Carosello 3000, there’s a decent selection of reds to get the heart racing. The brave set can aim for Monte Della Neve on the Mottolino gondola, before hurtling down its 2785m summit on the resort’s two black runs.

Snowboarders should head for one of the two snowparks, which are a popular haunt with the young and ideal for all abilities.

Nightlife, when skiing in Livigno, is lively and inexpensive, with a plentiful supply of bars and discos. If you’re more into having a chat over dinner, then you won’t be disappointed either, as there’s a good selection of restaurants to try.

A Livigno ski holiday provides the complete winter experience with snowmobiling, sleigh rides, dog sledding, horse riding, tobogganing, ice climbing and ice driving to look forward to. The shopaholic is well provided for too, with plenty of shopping opportunities here, or across the border in St. Moritz.

Add to all of this, Livigno’s duty free status and you have a ski resort that’s hard to beat.
