Not too long ago Armaçao de Pera was just a fishing village with quaint houses and narrow streets. Armaçao de Pera is now developing as a full blown holiday resort but has still managed to retain some of its traditional character. The sandy beach at Armaçao de Pera is one of the largest on the Algarve and is set among huge cliff and rock formations. A stroll along the promenade will bring you to what remains of the original fishing village. In the older part of the town, there are a number of bars and a good selection of restaurants, many offering freshly caught fish. There are good local shops but a trip to Albufeira (11kms) or Portimao (20kms) will provide added variety.
