Roquetas de Mar was once a tiny fishing village which has transformed into a thriving resort. Despite its popularity, it has retained a sense of tradition.

Its centre has a feel that is distinctly influenced by its Moorish past. Within its cobbled streets, visitors will find both contemporary and authentic shops as well as restaurants serving both international and local cuisine.

Just outside the town is the most important part of a Roquetas de Mar holiday – the beach. Calm blue waters wash this wide stretch of sand and pebbles. The area’s diverse interior is pretty too. The salt lakes of the Cabo de Gato National Park sit amid a desert-like landscape.

Evenings in Roquetas de Mar are quite low-key and can be spent along the seafront promenade. Bars offering entertainment such as karaoke and quizzes are plentiful and there are a few nightclubs for wilder nights out.
